How To Make A Lead Capture Page in 5 Simple Steps

Learning how to make a lead capture page is a vital skill that all online marketers must learn. Over the next few minutes, you are going to discover how you can integrate a simple 5 step action plan and start making lead capture pages that pull in tons of subscribers and opt-ins.

So lets get started...

A lead capture page is small targeted website that’s only goal is to capture info and convert Internet traffic into subscribers and/or leads. As far as building tools, all you really need to create these small websites is an auto responder (I recommend Aweber), a website building tool (I recommend WYSIWYG Website Builder) and a website hosting account (I recommend 1and1)* You will learn more about these tools at the bottom of this hub.

The main focus of this hub isn't to examine the technical side of creating these websites though and instead I'm going to explain the five action steps you must go through to make a lead capture page that gets results.

"How To" Action Step #1 – Develop An Interest Grabbing Headline

Your headline will be located at the top of your website and needs to peak your visitor's interest right away. Since this will be the first thing a person comes across when they hit your site it's imperative that your headline sucks them in and demands that they keep scanning down the page. If your headline fails to interest your visitor, they will likely click off of your page before reading the rest of your copy or watching your video.

Another thing to consider when crafting your headline is to focus in on who your selected audience is and what they are looking for. Then jot down a powerful headline that addresses them directly and solves their problem.

Check out this example headline for a "Stop Smoking" Offer:

"New Discovery Makes Quitting Smoking As Easy As 1-2-3... Finally a REAL Stop Smoking Solution That Actually WORKS!"

You will notice that I bold, italicize and underline key phrases and words inside the headline. Along with increasing the font size, doing these simple changes can greatly increase the intensity of your page.

"How To" Action Step #2 – Create Structured Body Content

When learning how to make a lead capture page, developing the actual body content can be a daunting task. Think of the body of your website as an addition to your headline. Since your headline has pulled your visitor in, now it’s the body section's turn to build interest in your offer and discuss the benefits a person receives by opting into your list.

Your body paragraphs should be brief and concise. Remember that lead capture pages are miniature websites and not sales letters so keep your copy clear-cut. One extremely easy way to develop tight copy is to use bullet points that demonstrate the key benefits and features of your offer. Bullet points are remarkable because they are easy for the reader to understand and will keep your visitors eyes moving down the page.

"How To" Action Step #3 – Craft An Undeniable Call To Action

A call to action is simply the part in your capture page where you tell your visitor exactly what you want them to do.

For example, here is a great call to action that could be used after the body section on a "stop smoking" lead capture page:

Are You Ready To Crush Your Nasty Smoking Habit? Simply Fill Out The Form Below & I'll RUSH You A FREE Copy Of My "Kill The Smokes" Report! ($49 Value)"

As you can see, the example call to action above tells the visitor exactly what they need to do and the benefit they are going to get in return. As long as you can place value on your offer and show your visitor quality benefits your capture page should have a high conversion rate.

"How To" Action Step #4 –Make an Eye Grabbing Web Form With Your Auto Responder

An auto responder is a tool that will allow you to create opt-in forms, build marketing databases and send follow up messages to those databases. As far as an auto responder service, I endorse and use Aweber (Learn more about "Why" I endorse Aweber at the bottom of this hub). They have an simple to use control panel, great customer service and they set the bar when it comes to follow-up email marketing.

After you set up your Aweber account you will simply need to use the service to make a web form that can be placed on your lead capture page. Making a web form is extremely simple and Aweber will walk you through the process one step at a time. The most important thing you will need to decide is what data you want to capture on your opt-in form.

If you are a MLM marketer who's generating phone leads then you probably want to collect your visitors name, phone and email address. If you are just developing an email list then focus on gathering names and emails.

"How To" Action Step #5 - Seal The Deal With A Perfect Privacy Statement

The privacy statement is that couple of lines at the bottom of your lead capture page that makes your visitors feel confident about joining your list. Failing to include this little piece of information is a HUGE mistake and could end up costing you alot of subscribers.

Here is an example of a respectable privacy policy/statement that could be used on any custom lead capture page:

"I respect your privacy and your information is completely confidential. I hate spam and promise that your name and email will never be shared, rented or sold to any third party."

The main thing is to let your visitors know that you will not be sharing or distributing their info so they can submit in confidence.

In closing…

Discovering how to make a lead capture page is a "must have" skill if you are an internet or network marketer. Remember to make your lead capture pages uncomplicated and avoid posting any external links or navigation bars. By following the action steps laid out above you should have no challenge creating a killer capture websites that pull in leads.

The Technical Stuff: 3 Tools You Need To Make A Lead Capture Page

Now that we've discussed the components of lead capture pages it's time to talk about the three things you need to create your own custom websites and display them online.

Tool #1 - A Website Building Tool

While I use several different website building tools in my Internet marketing endeavors, my absolute favorite for lead capture pages and other small websites is the WYSIWYG Website Builder (WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get"). This is a "point and click" tool that you can learn how to use in a matter of minutes.

Unlike other website builders, the WYSIWYG program allows you do whatever you want to any part of your page with just a point and a click. Absolutely no computer or website building skills needed and you won't be pulling out your hair because you can't place text or a picture where you want to.

Tool #2 - A Web-host

In order to publish any kind of website online you need to have a place to store your website files and post them to the Internet. This is where a webhosting company comes into play. While there are literally thousands of web-hosts for you to choose from I personally use and recommend a company called 1 and 1 webhosting.

1 and 1 allows you to pay by the month (no paying 12 months ahead) and gives you the ability to host as many websites as you want in one single account. This means you can have one hosting account that costs you $5 to $10 a month and host 100 or more websites without paying extra.

Tool #3 - An Auto Responder

As I talked about in the information above, an Auto responder gives you the ability to create opt-in forms, build targeted marketing lists and then follow up with those lists via email marketing. Do yourself a favor and get yourself an Aweber Auto Responder account right away.

Aweber is #1 for a reason and a vital tool that every online and network marketer needs to have.
